1 Tbl shortening
6 to 6 1/4 cups flour
Directions:

Add enough of remaining flour to make stiff dough. Knead till smooth and satiny (8 to 10 minutes). Shape into ball. Place in lightly greased bowl turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise 1 1/2 hours. Punch down and let rise again until double (45 minutes). Cut into 2 loafs. Shape into balls and let rest 10 minutes. Shape into loaf by rolling flat with rolling pin. Then roll dough like jelly roll, sealing ends and tucking under when place in 8 1/2 x 4 x 2 pan. Let rise 1 hour. Bake at 400* F for 35 minutes. After 15 minutes, if browning too fast, cover with foil. Let bread cool on rack or across pans.
