I completely understand the stepmother comment. I have a 12 year old stepson, 14 year old stepdaughter, and 18 year old stepson. I love them all very dearly and they are my kids, but even though I feel like I am probably more of a mother to the youngest than his own mother is, I am not their mom. Its not a bad thing at all. I actually kind of see it as a good thing (most of the time) because that means that I get to have a better relationship with them than mom because I don't have to be mom. Just momlike.
